5 Beaches That Will Leave You Longing For Spring Break

As a celebrated Spring Break destination, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seems to get all the love. But there are loads of beaches dotted around the sunny south that deserve high fives for fun, sun and surf.
1. Virginia Beach, Virginia

Virginia Beach offers the longest pleasure beach in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. There’s no shortage of fun things to do, even when drinking is not your cup of tea. Spring breakers can surf, hike, play arcade games on the boardwalk, listen to live music, kayak, watch dolphins play, and more, all within a short distance of the many hotels and motels that line the seaside.
2. Smathers Beach, Key West, Florida

Key West is the home of the southernmost point of the U.S. This beautiful spot was part time home to Ernest Hemingway, and is current part time home to Jimmy Buffett. As you can imagine, it has plenty of watering holes that kept thirst at bay for the literary genius as well as modern day songsters like Buffett. For Spring Breakers, Smathers Beach offers postcard vistas, parasailing, jet skiing and sunbathing in a carefree and party town atmosphere.

If you don’t want to miss the opportunity to spot celebrities like Enrique Iglesias, the Kardashian’s, Daymond John, and Jennifer Lopez, head on down to South Beach for Spring Break. This bikini-worthy beach is alive with sun worshippers, beach volleyball, Frisbees, and stocked coolers. After the sunset, head across the street to one of many art deco nightclubs for Latin-infused cocktails and music.

You might not think of Texas as being an attractive Spring Break destination, but one look at the sandy beaches on South Padre Island will have you booking your ticket. From kiteboarding to fishing, to nightclubbing to surfing, college students will find plenty to occupy themselves from morning to night. Best of all, South Padre Island is welcoming to Spring Breakers, and hosts events specially designed to entertain those hard-working and studious visitors from colleges across the country.
5. Mission Beach, San Diego, California

Apart from the famed MTV Spring Break television show that was filmed on Mission Beach, this hot spot just has tons of fun to offer. From wet t-shirt contests hosted by drink companies, to the rollercoaster on the waterfront, to an endless array of nightclubs, there’s no escaping the raucous revelry that happens every March.
