Steel blue is our September color of the month, and our wedding decor ranges from classic and traditional white decor on blue table cloths to pewter and driftwood accents for a more laid-back and rustic look. Whatever your style, steel blue is so versatile that it can be morphed into any wedding theme. This is partly why we chose steel blue for our color of the month—the color fits both late summer and early fall weather, and it can be soft and breezy or bold and dark.
If you prefer a more sophisticated and classic wedding style, then go easy on the colored decor. A great way to incorporate your wedding color into the reception without overdoing it is to make the table cloths colored and keep all the decor neutral. For a steel blue wedding, decorate the table with soft cream and bright whites. Gold, pewter, bronze, or silver all make fitting colors for vases and silverware. Top the tables with candlesticks and bouquets for just the right amount of decor. Because blue is such a heavy color no matter the shade, it is important to choose light-colored decor to pair it with. Most importantly, make this light-colored decor take up more venue space than the darker blue.
To make your table more rustic, place bouquets in wooden boxes and use dark brown or gold table numbers. You still want to keep most of the accent decor light, but these rugged pieces will bring the reception decor down to earth. You can also replace vases and drinking glasses with mason jars for a more country chic theme. Add a tweed table runner on top of the steel blue table cloth to tie everything together.
To go for a more outdoorsy rustic, lose the tablecloths and use bare wooden tables. Decorate with steel blue plates and glassware, but keep the same pewter or bronze vases with soft white bouquets. A little blue goes a long way. A September wedding is all about combining summer’s laid-back, nature-inspired feel with the coolness of September, which we capture with pops of steel blue color.
