It’s 6 a.m., your alarm keeps going off, you know you have to be at work by 8 a.m., yet, you still feel the overwhelming need to hit the snooze button. When you finally muster enough motivation to get yourself out of bed, you find yourself dragging through the entire day with little or no alertness to adequately perform tasks. Sounds like you? Our early morning routine would help you kick-start your day, leaving you alert, refreshed and ready to take on the world.
Stretch those limbs
You’ve heeded your alarm and gotten out of bed, before you do anything, give your self a well-deserving stretch. Keep going until you feel the last bit of muscle pop and feel free to yawn as well. Doing this helps you awaken your muscles, subsequently, improving day-to-day motions and flexibility for an enhanced coordination through out the rest of the day.
Quick exercise
Exercising early in the morning, a very crucial part of a morning routine, has so many known benefits including, but not limited to, an improved metabolism and a spike in physical and mental energy. It also leaves you energized throughout the day. You don’t have to do anything elaborate. 30 sit-ups, 15 squats and 10-15 push-ups would do the trick, just sending the endorphins flowing already.
Listen to your favorite music
Play your favorite music as you prepare for your shower, it will jog your senses if they aren’t already wide awake by now. On the plus side, it also helps you keep track of time and gets you going a little faster, while setting you up with the right mood to tackle the rest of your day.
Shower
Is the music still on? Good. Now, go shower! Please do not attempt to skip this. Good ol’ cold water does the trick more than anything. It doesn’t have to be a cold shower all through but for the first ten seconds at least, sending that cold shock through your body would leave you wide awake.
Eat breakfast
Breakfast is another important component of the morning routine. Don’t skip breakfast because you are in a hurry or because you want to lose weight. It isn’t worth it. It actually helps if you package your breakfast the night before, just in case you end up in a hurry the next morning. Eat something, whether it’s a slice of bread, some cereal, or an apple. It’d improve your retention rate, aid weight loss, reduce the risk of diabetes and health problems. #TrueStory
Lemon not coffee
We know the deal with caffeine, so, rather than have coffee why not swap it for lemon water. It lubricates your internal organs, starts your metabolism, gives you energy and it helps weight loss too, as an added benefit. If you must take caffeine, however, please hydrate. About 1-2 cups of water before your coffee will do.
Whew! Now that we’ve gotten past that, it’s time to take on the world.
